Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

When Lord Balon Greyjoy calls his banners to Pyke, Lord Gorold comes from Great Wyk with near forty longships. He sails along with Asha Greyjoy.[3]

A Feast for Crows

Lord Gorold sends one of his sons, Gormond, to the shore of Great Wyk to inform Aeron Greyjoy of the death of his brother, Balon Greyjoy, King of the Isles and the North. Aeron travels to Hammerhorn to discuss the news with Gorold. The Damphair demands that Murenmure not be present for their conversation, but Lord Goodbrother insists that his maester stays. Murenmure informs Aeron of Euron Greyjoy's arrival at Pyke, and Gorold tells the priest of the Drowned God about the death of Lord Sawane Botley.[2]

Gorold attends the kingsmoot on Old Wyk, where he is listed as one of Victarion Greyjoy's supporters.[1] During the feast held by Victarion, two of Gorold's sons knock over a table while fighting.[4] After Euron's speech at the kingsmoot, Aeron spies Gorold shouting his support for Euron.[5]

After the taking of the Shields, Gorold is spotted by Victarion and Nute the Barber talking with Lords Rodrik Harlaw and Dunstan Drumm in the yard at Lord Hewett's castle. They discuss their fears that the gains from the battle are little compared to the enmity of the Reach they have earned.[6]

Quotes by Gorold

This is my hall, Damphair. It is not for you to say who must go and who remains.[2]

—Gorold to Aeron Greyjoy

Gorold: I must send word to Pyke, and soon. Damphair, I would have your counsel. What shall it be, homage or defiance?
Aeron: For now, send only silence. I must pray on this.[2]

—Gorold and Aeron Greyjoy
