Garth the Harelip was a captain of the City Watch of King's Landing during the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The knight commanded the Dragon Gate.[1]
History
During the riots of King's landing, Garth led the men of the Dragon Gate garrison against the rioters and managed to restore some semblance of order to the streets north and east of Rhaenys's Hill.[1]
When a mob marched for the storming of the Dragonpit, Rhaenyra sent riders to Garth and Ser Balon Byrch, commanding them to lead their respective garrisons to disperse the rioters, seize the Shepherd, and protect House Targaryen's dragons. It is unknown if the riders reached their destination.[1]
After Rhaenyra fled the capital, Garth was charged with defense of the Red Keep. However, not half a day passed before he struck Rhaenyra's banners and opened his gates to Ser Perkin the Flea and his gutter knights, trusting to their mercy. Garth was dragged before the Flea and beheaded, however, along with twenty knights still loyal to the queen.[1]
